everything in this room is eatable

i bought some fun dip, for nostalgia. but upon tearing into the first powdered candy packet, i remembered, not the great times eating the stuff, not the fun colors they turned my tongue, but the bafflement at the existence of two candy stick dipper things when there are clearly three flavor candy packets. i remember wanting to share my treat with my friends, and being thwarted by every attempt to obtain a perfectly fair way to split the package. if there were three of us, yay, three packets! but then only two sticks. generally, being as obsessive compulsive as i am, i would attempt to remove exactly one third from each stick, so as to equal two thirds of a stick for each person. but that of course would make the sticks too short to stick into the flavor packets, and therefore render useless the whole stick-keeping-your-fingers-un-stickily-colored idea (not to mention the amount of the candy i probably lost in sawing the candy sticks into pieces). when eating a whole package on my own (as kids are prone to do when spending their own money on a big package of sugar) i would attempt to ration my lik-a-sticks and to thusly lick each one just enough to allow the two sticks to make it through three packets.
between prissily keeping my fingers flesh-colored and obsessively rationing the candy, i think somehow i missed some of the joys of lick-m-aid fun dip. but i still loved the stuff.
