and all that jazz

i think the little strings on tea bags are useless. why are they there? at first the answer seems obvious: to hold on to the tea bag without getting your fingers wet. but did anyone ever stop and wonder why we would need to hold on to the tea bag? you can sort of bounce it around, but there is no way to actually get the tea mixed and brewed properly without a spoon. so it doesn't safe a spoon from being used. you could also argue that it is for retrieving the teabag from the cup, but have you ever seen anyone try to remove a teabag without scooping it out with a spoon? if you just pull it out by the string, it is waterlogged, taking half of your cup of tea with it, and dripping said tea all the way across the kitchen floor on its way to the rubbish bin. so you actually need the spoon for that part as well. and has anyone ever noticed that the teabags that have strings are not as well made as the others? they end up falling apart if you stir ungently enough. from now on, i am sticking to the perfect little round teabags with no strings.
