I find your lack of faith disturbing
i'm frustrated lately with different cultures. i have been realizing how many people there really are that are "shipwrecked" in the college scene, and i've always assumed they were shallow, selfish, "sunday only" christians that didn't get a good enough foundation; but more and more, i've been seeing that there are so many that have just been jaded by "the church." that doesn't provide justification, but it makes me hurt as i realize there seems to be no effective way to reach these people, to pull them back. they've been hurt by the others. these are the people who go to church any time they can. they love god, or claim to. often there is no way to distinguish between those who really love him and those who've become caught up in the "good" culture. but legalism, and even more, judgementalism, has penetrated christian culture. so many christians seem to see the world as simplistic. i don't know how to describe the sentiment, but it is pretty calloused. how did we get to the point where we think everyone else is stupid without bothering to think for ourselves? i think there are so many people that experience pain and they're told they need to suck it up and have faith. so christians have stopped being real with each other. we are afraid to tell each other what is really going on in ourselves. but, guess what, the world is more than happy to allow us to pour it out. it's sad when the world, who doesn't know the truth, is willing to be more real than those of us who do know it. and my heart hurts that we have so many programs, but none of them are what those who've fallen overboard need.

the more 'programs' i see, the more i want to avoid them alltogether. i completely agree with what you are saying. i began to comment here, but found myself ranting, so i decided to simply put the comment on my blog. if you wish to view it you may go to my site.
