my will is weak
today i had this conversation with myself:
"self, maybe you should push the button"
"but it doesn't do anything, why bother"
"what if it were to do something?"
"it doesn't"
"what would it hurt?"
"it's the principle of the thing. everyone else pushes the button. i can resist. my will is stronger than the masses"
"but why resist? there's a chance that it actually does something."
"what if it is some elaborately plotted virus, with testimonials and everything, and i'll end up killing my computer?"
"then that will be something, and you will know"
"well i just don't want to push it. i wish to refuse"
"but there is no reason not to"
"there is, i won't be lured"
"really, in the end of all things, what is the importance of your being able to say you resisted the button?"
"i guess that doesn't really matter"
"of course it doesn't matter. nothing will happen, just push it"
